How long does it take to set up?

An afternoon. Peel the backing off a KonnectReader, press it to the wall by the door, add your staff, and you are recording attendance. There is no wiring, no drilling, no installer and no on-site visit.

Do my staff need to install an app?

Accepted Answer

No. The reader opens a web page using the NFC chip already built into their phone. They sign in once and their phone remembers them after that. Nothing to download, nothing to update, and nothing sitting on their phone between taps.

Can I try it before paying?

Yes, two ways. There is a live demo you can click around without giving us anything, and every plan starts with a 14 day free trial. Nothing is charged during the trial and you can cancel before it ends.

How many staff can I add?

As many as you like. Both plans are priced per organisation, not per person, so adding your twentieth or two hundredth member of staff costs nothing extra.

Can I run more than one site or building?

Yes. You can create separate entities for each site, department or company, assign staff and readers to them, and report on each one on its own or all together. Multi-entity is included on both plans.

Is it suitable for volunteers, committees or casual staff?

Yes. Anyone you add can tap, whether they are salaried, hourly, bank staff, a volunteer or a trustee. You decide who gets an account and what working pattern, if any, applies to them.

What do I need before I start?

A wall by the door, at least one KonnectReader, and your staff list with an email address for each person. If someone has no work email you can give them a placeholder address; attendance is tied to their account, not their inbox.

Konnect Pro is £29 a month and Konnect Premium is £49 a month. Both are per organisation with unlimited staff, and both include a 14 day free trial.

What is the difference between Pro and Premium?

Premium adds advanced analytics, cross-site rollups, scheduled payroll exports, priority support with a same working day reply, a guided setup call, and 2 KonnectReaders to get your first two doors live.

Is it per person?

No, and deliberately so. It is one flat price for your whole organisation however many people you add. Per-head pricing punishes you for growing and makes budgeting guesswork.

Do I need to give card details for the trial?

Yes, so the subscription can continue without interruption if you decide to stay. Nothing is taken during the 14 days and you can cancel at any point before it ends.

Premium says it includes 2 free KonnectReaders. What is the deposit?

We ship the KonnectReaders straight away so you can go live on day one, and take a refundable £29.98 deposit to cover them. You get it back in full once you have completed your first paid month, and the KonnectReaders are then yours. It is the retail value of the goods, not a penalty.

What happens to the deposit if I cancel?

We email you a return address. Send the KonnectReaders back within 14 days and we refund the deposit in full. If they do not reach us within 14 days we keep the deposit and you keep the KonnectReaders. Free periods, including the trial and any promotional month, do not count towards the first paid month.

When exactly is the deposit returned?

Once you have completed a full month you actually paid for. Without a promotional code that lands about six weeks after signup: 14 days of trial, then one paid month. With a free month applied it is about ten weeks. The rule is always one full paid month.

Can I cancel any time?

Accepted Answer

Yes. There is no minimum term and no cancellation fee. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the month you have already paid for, and you keep access until then.

Do I get a refund for part of a month?

No, part months are not refunded, which is normal for monthly software. Your access continues to the end of the period you paid for. Statutory rights are unaffected.

How do I pay, and do you store my card?

Payments run through Stripe, and card details are entered on Stripe's own pages. They never reach our servers and we never store them, not even the last four digits.

Prices shown include any tax that applies. If our VAT position changes we will give you at least 30 days notice before VAT is added to your bill.

We retry it and email you. If it stays unpaid we may suspend access until it is settled rather than deleting anything. Your data is still there when you sort the payment out.

Yes. There is a promotion code box on the payment page. A code that gives you a free month sits after the trial, so the free period runs trial first, then the promotional month, then billing starts.

A 90mm square NFC reader that sticks to the wall by your door. It is passive: no wiring, no batteries, no network connection and nothing to charge. It contains a pre-programmed NTAG 424 DNA chip that signs every read.

Two finishes, Ink and Mist. Ink is a deep navy that suits darker walls and signage, Mist is an off-white that disappears into most painted walls. You can mix them across doors, and on Premium you choose the split of your included pair.

How do I fit one?

Peel the backing off the adhesive pad, press it firmly to a clean flat surface by the door at about chest height, and hold for a few seconds. That is the whole job.

Will it damage my wall?

It uses an adhesive pad, so removing it can lift paint, plaster or wallpaper depending on the surface. Choose the spot carefully, and check with your landlord or building owner first if you do not own the building. We cannot cover redecoration.

How many do I need?

One per entrance you want to record. Most organisations start with one at the main door and add more as they cover side entrances or extra sites. There is no limit and no per-reader fee.

Do readers need power or wifi?

No. The reader is entirely passive and draws what little energy it needs from the phone held against it. The phone does the talking to us, so the reader never needs power or a network.

What if one is damaged or stops working?

They carry a 12 month warranty against manufacturing defects and we will replace a faulty one free of charge. Damage from misuse, painting over it, water or repeated removal is not covered.

Can I move a reader to a different door?

Yes. Readers registered to your organisation can be reassigned between your own sites at any time in the app. Physically you will need a fresh adhesive pad.

Can I use my own NFC tags?

No. Each KonnectReader is pre-programmed and cryptographically tied to your account, which is what stops a tap being faked. A blank tag bought elsewhere cannot be enrolled.

We deliver within the United Kingdom. Orders are programmed and dispatched from our own stock, and you will get an email when yours is on its way.

Can I return hardware?

If you bought as a consumer you have 14 days from delivery to cancel and get a refund. For business purchases we will accept unused hardware in its original packaging within 30 days, less return carriage.

What does a member of staff actually do?

They hold the back of their phone against the reader for about a second. A page opens confirming they are in, or out, with the time. That is the entire interaction, roughly two seconds.

How does the system know whether it is an in or an out?

It works it out from the day so far. If they have more ins than outs recorded today, the next tap is an out; otherwise it is an in. Nobody has to remember to press the right button.

What stops someone tapping in for a colleague?

A reader on its own can never create a record. A tap needs two things: the reader's cryptographic signature and that member of staff's own signed-in session on their own phone. Holding somebody else's phone to the reader would sign them in as that person, which is no different from handing over a key card, but a photograph of the reader, a copied link or a cloned blank tag will not work.

What if someone taps twice by accident?

A repeat tap within a short debounce window is ignored rather than flipping them straight back out. You can set that window for your organisation.

Does every phone work?

Most modern phones do. On Android NFC is usually already on, and lives in Settings if it is not. On an iPhone XR or newer there is nothing to switch on at all — iPhones have no NFC setting, because it cannot be turned off, and a tag is read with no app open. Older iPhones, back to the iPhone 7, read one from the NFC Tag Reader in Control Centre. Only a handset with no NFC hardware is left out.

Can staff tap from home?

No. Recording a tap requires physically holding a phone against the reader on your wall, and the reader's signature changes on every read so an old one cannot be reused.

What if the phone has no signal at the door?

The tap needs a connection to reach us. If the door is a signal blackspot, wifi usually solves it. If a tap genuinely fails, a manager can add the missing time afterwards.

What if someone forgets to tap out?

The day is flagged as needing review rather than guessed at. A manager can add the missing tap, or the member of staff can raise a correction request for approval.

What if someone loses their phone?

Nothing on the reader is tied to a particular handset. They sign in on a replacement phone and carry on. If the lost phone is a worry, an administrator can reset their password.

Two parts of our organisation share one front door. Does that work?

Yes. On the tap points screen each door has an "Also used by" option: tick the other entity and that one reader serves both. This is common in shared buildings, a masjid with a madrasah, a nursery inside a community centre, a charity renting from a church, and you do not need a second reader on the same doorway.

If a door is shared, which entity do the hours go to?

The entity the person works for, not the one that happens to own the door. Almost everyone works for one entity, so their tap files itself. If somebody works for two, their rota for that day decides. Only when they work for two and have no shift booked does the app ask, and then it is a single tap on the answer.

Why does it ask me which site I am here for?

Accepted Answer

Because you are assigned to more than one entity, you have tapped at a door that serves both, and there is no shift today saying which. Rather than guess and quietly put your hours in the wrong place, it asks once. Nothing is recorded until you answer, so if you tap the wrong one, ask your manager to correct it as normal.

How do I stop staff being asked which site they are at?

Put them on a shift. If someone has a shift that day at one of the entities the door serves, that answers the question without a prompt. Keeping the rota current is the simplest way to make the question disappear.

Why does it say I am not assigned to this site?

You are not on the entity that door belongs to. Your admin can either add you to that entity on your staff record, or, if the door genuinely serves both parts of the organisation, share the door so it covers both.

How do I get hours out for payroll?

Open Exports, choose a date range, and download either a detailed day-by-day file or a per-person summary, as CSV or Excel. You can also filter to a single site.

Yes, any start and end date, so it fits whatever your payroll period actually is rather than forcing you into calendar months.

What is the difference between hours worked and payable hours?

Hours worked is what the taps show. Payable hours is what you owe once contracted time, missed time and paid leave are taken into account. Payroll normally wants payable hours.

Does the export handle staff who were on holiday?

Yes. Approved leave shows as leave rather than absence, contributes no missed hours, and pays according to its type: annual and paid leave pay in full, unpaid pays nothing, and sick pays at the rate you set.

Days the system cannot price safely are flagged for review rather than quietly guessed. An administrator can add, edit or delete individual taps, and every manual change records who made it.

Exports are standard CSV and Excel, which every payroll package can take. There is no direct integration, and that is deliberate: a file you can inspect before importing beats a black box that silently pushes numbers.

Yes. Each person can have a weekly working pattern, and you can publish named shifts on particular dates and assign staff to them.

A manager can mark someone off sick in one click from the daily review screen, and staff can report their own sickness. It is recorded as approved rather than as a request nobody made.

You decide, per organisation. Sick pay is set as a percentage of contracted hours, so 100 is full company sick pay, 0 is unpaid, and anything between covers whatever you have agreed. You can also flag sick days for manual payroll review instead.

Each person has an annual allocation and a running count of days used, so both they and their manager can see what is left before a request is made.
